3/2/2023 0 Comments Osmo actio![]() ![]() The Osmo Action uses H.264 at a maximum of 100Mbps. They just want to be able to get results fast, make a quick edit, and show their mates what they've been doing.Īnd this brings me to compression. It's an all too easy fact to forget that the majority of users of this camera do not care about sharpness settings or log gamma. Having said that I know a lot of general users who will use this camera I know will prefer the contrasty, sharp, colourful look right out of the camera. This isn't a real log option, but does desaturate things and lowers the contrast a bit. The default colour setting can be a little too contrasty, so I found it best to use D-Cinelike. It's a feature that I really do hope DJI will consider adding in a future firmware update, firstly because it will enable the Osmo to be cut in with other cameras more easily, but also because it will go easier on the compression system. Unfortunately this cannot currently be turned off or adjusted. The one aspect I didn't like was the digital edge enhancement. You can also set EV compensation, and like pretty much all action cameras it is sometimes a good idea to set this to around -0.5 to -1 to protect highlights as much as you can. Although you can place limits on how far you will allow the auto ISO to go, or to set it manually. The camera generally seems to make good choices with exposure, although like any camera with a chip this small, there can be noise issues in the shadows or when the device decides to bump up the ISO. In the final part of his review, Simon Wyndham looks at what the camera is capable of.Ĭlick here to read the first part of our Osmo Action review So what's the picture quality like? ![]() Users who don't like the fish-eye effect will also be in luck as the Osmo Action has a Dewarp function that will eliminate any distortion when shooting close-ups.Review: The Osmo Action promises a lot to action camera fans. In addition to its shooting modes, the Osmo Action is designed with a wide-angle lens that has a FOV of 145°. On the other hand, the Osmo Action features significantly fewer modes only having Timelapse, 8x SlowMotion (240 frames at 1080p), and HDR video to do the unit not have any way to move itself. This makes it ideal for vloggers, creators, and casual users looking to capture a variety of cinematic shots with the press of a button. The Osmo Pocket comes with various shooting modes including ActiveTrack, 4x SlowMotion (120 frames at 1080p), FaceTrack, Panorama, Timelapse, Motionlapse, Hyperlapse, NightShot, Story, and FPV. When it comes to these shooting modes, the Osmo Pocket has the upper hand over the Osmo Action due to its gimbal system which enables the unit to move its own camera with ease. Intelligent shooting modes enable anyone of any technical background to easily capture dynamic and cinematic shots with the tap of a button. The Osmo Action features both a front 1.4 inch and back 2.25-inch screen, high-resolution display, and a responsive interface for the most convenient user experience possible. Popular action cameras on the market cannot view a live-view while shooting via the front screen. While the Osmo Pocket can handle temperatures between 0-40-degrees Celsius, the Osmo Action can handle temperatures between -10-40-degrees Celsius.Ī unique feature of the Osmo Action is its dual-screen design. The Osmo Action can also handle more extreme temperatures. Additionally, the Osmo Action is waterproof and can handle depths up to 11 metres underwater without any additional accessories. Though the Osmo Pocket is by no means a fragile device, the Osmo Action is designed to be as durable and rugged as possible, featuring a lens and back touchscreen protected by an anti-fingerprint coating that repels oil, dirt, water, and more. When it comes to durability, this is where the Osmo Action has the upper hand. Nevertheless, both cameras are extremely small and compact and can fit comfortably in the palm of your hand. ![]() The Osmo Pocket is 121.9x36.9x28.6mm and weighs 116g, while the Osmo Action is 65x41x34mm weighing in at 124 grams. 3/2/2023 0 Comments Black hole movie![]() So I think there is something arresting about the image beyond its technical achievement.” Another said the image on the cellphone was captivating for hours – just walking around staring at this image before it was released. “One colleague said she looked at it and she felt terrified of it. We’d seen simulations of this thing for years so it wasn’t a matter of not having any idea what it would look like, but seeing an actual black hole was something different. He adds: “The scientists were not divorced from broader cultural philosophical meanings. Malcolm Perry, Andrew Strominger and Stephen Hawking in Black Holes: The Edge of All We Know. Even if you know there are black holes – from the equations or from more indirect observations – to actually look at it and say, ‘ There is a black hole,’ I think was thrilling for the public and thrilling for the scientists involved.” Galison, himself a member of the Event Horizon Telescope team, recalls: “It resonated for people because it did seem to recalibrate our relationship with the world. The effort produced spectacular results two years ago by capturing the first ever image of a black hole, displayed on newspaper front pages around the world and now printed in large format at the Museum of Modern Art in New York. That being impractical, the next best thing is the Event Horizon Telescope collaboration, an array of eight radio observatories on six mountains spanning four continents, acting together like shards of a single mirror. The black hole at the heart of a galaxy known as Messier 87 is so far away that it would ideally require a telescope the size of Earth. We use the visible things that are near a black hole to deduce things about the black hole itself.” So what you’re seeing is a kind of shadow of the black hole and by looking at this glowing ring around the black hole, we can deduce a lot about its size and its properties. ![]() ![]() “But the first good news in the effort is that these black holes accrete gas and matter, stuff that flows around it and gets heated up in that swirl to a temperature of roughly 10bn degrees, and that glows. The one we’re looking at is 55m light years away so its imprint on the sky, so to speak, is like trying to read the date on a coin in London from New York. “Black holes are the hardest to see objects in the universe because they reflect no light, they emit no light. “I think that I’m perversely drawn to topics of invisible things,” he says cheerfully, noting that his previous films include national security secrecy and the need to bury nuclear waste. But television is an insatiable visual medium so Galison – Pellegrino University professor of the history of science and physics at Harvard – had an unenviable task in making a film about “something that struggles with all of its might to be unseen”, as one of his interviewees puts it. They are a source of fascination for astrophysicists, mathematicians and philosophers and a ready-made metaphor for artists. ![]() Given that there are 100bn galaxies in the visible universe, there are probably 100bn supermassive black holes. Supermassive black holes – millions or billions of times bigger than our sun – are found at the centre of almost every galaxy including our own, the Milky Way. Once you are over the edge, there’s no way back.”Ĭity-sized black holes form when certain stars run out of fuel to burn and collapse under the force of their own gravity. It’s a region of space where gravity is so strong that nothing can escape. It is Hawking’s voice, that instantly recognisable computer speech synthesiser, that opens the film: “A black hole is stranger than anything dreamed up by science fiction writers. Among the highlights is being a fly on the wall as the late Stephen Hawking tries to figure them out. We are talking about his documentary film, Black Holes: The Edge of All We Know, four years in the making and available on Netflix from 1 June, which follows two scientific collaborations to understand the most mysterious objects in the universe. ![]() Especially when Galison adds with cosmic understatement: “In the long term that’s not a good survival event.” “Physicists have an expression called ‘spaghettification’ because if you were falling in feet first, your feet would be more attracted towards the centre than your head, and your sides would be pushed towards your middle and this process would extend and compress you.” ![]() 3/1/2023 0 Comments Nba street showdown![]() ![]() "Rewards" lets you view an easy-to-read record of everything you've earned and unlocked in the game. And "Head to Head" lets you go up against another PSP-owning competitors via Ad-hoc, battling it out in a typical "Pick Up game." In "My Street," you can create entire players and teams from scratch. "Party Play" mode lets you play the mini-games with up to four players. There are varying degrees of difficulty (Got Game - easy, Mad Game - medium, Legendary - hard), that will take you from Upper Manhattan to Los Angeles, working your way across the country building street credibility, and an ever-evolving customized baller that you can use to play in other modes of on "Showdown." The objective here is to beat each team so that you can "own" their home court. You take that team and play against other CPU-controlled street ballers. "King of The Courts," the non-NBA element of Showdown, lets you customize your own team lead by your own personalized baller. These are redeemable later as for upgrades. Game points get totaled up at the end, which will translate into whatever amount of rewards points you've earned. Just the sound and feel of this one little element is fulfilling in its own way. When you swat down a "money" ball, the ball explodes about a dozen bright green dollar signs all over the court. The levels keep progressing until you reach nine strikes. Each time a player gets a ball past you for a bucket, it counts as a strike. The closer you are to them when you go for the swat, the more points you get, which is indicated in point rings on the court. ![]() Your player stands in front of the goal while other players stand at the three-point line take shots. The next game is "Shot Blocker," and it's deceptively fun. The trick is judging how long to hold down the X button that determines the force at which you throw the ball. The one in the middle is worth ten points, and the two on either side of it are worth twenty-five points. All you see is the players arm when he shoots at the three hoops. Your player stands in front of a classic pop-a-shot machine with three hoops to shoot at. "Arcade Shootout" is like a carnival basketball game. The other two games under "Quick Play" are mini games. The cage you play in at the Uptown location is illustrated so well, it's worth sitting there and scrutinizing every corner of it. ![]() The first open locales like Bridge Point and Uptown don't skimp on detail either. All of Showdown's player models (they're detailed enough to illustrate the white spot on Rasheed Wallace's head), lush colors, shadows, and lively animations are stunning sights. The pacing has been tuned to a sweet flow of give-and-go that helps make the all the beautiful chaos manageable. Here is where you get to see all the "Rucker Park" mayhem. The first is "Pick Up Game," which is the easiest way to set-up a street match-up with NBA teams. The Quick Play option gives you the three immediate games to play. The modes are set up very similar to the latest NBA Street title, NBA Street V3. Nevertheless, the ball sparkles and explodes at the final slam with all the glory of V3's presentation, and it's still a remarkable feat to see on a PSP. But you can still manage combos with this, which lead to dazzling dunks that help build that almighty "Gamebreaker." Also, Gamebreaker here is more similar to Volume 2 in that when activated, an animated scene will play out when you go to score. For one, the amount of tricks you could do with the right analog stick on the PS2 are gone on PSP - your tricks are primarily limited to the square button on Showdown. But some of the core game mechanics are modeled after NBA Street Volume 2, which means that the controls are somewhat limited in comparison to V3. The presentation is straight from NBA Street V3, with all the updated menus, fonts, music, and glitz you'd expect. ![]() ![]() ![]() With that being said, the game does differentiate just enough of the gameplay to not have it fall into an endless rut of “win the race, go to next series”. In terms of actually racing though, FlatOut 4 is more of the same niches that racing titles offer overall. Stunts and other modes are unlocked by gaining points in the aforementioned challenges which, thus, leads to crazier and hectic-er modes… yes, hectic-er. Both of these are achieved by launching yourself out of your car at high speeds which, in a very cathartic way, really never stops being humorous. Especially considering that the types of stunts available include car beer pong and a variation on the high jump. ![]() The stunts that the player is presented with are, not only entertaining, but weirdly engaging. Modes such as arena battle, career mode, time trial, destruct-a-thons, and my personal favourite, stunts. The amount of content in-game is absolutely nuts, with a large selection of modes and vehicles to choose and use. Fans of the FlatOut series will not be disappointed with the latest installment and the features that it offers. ![]() So where does FlatOut 4 fall on the spectrum of high octane? Quite high I’m happy to say. Racers such as Burnout Paradise, Need for Speed and, of course, FlatOut. One such formula are the high octane, action racers that have been a standard of the genre for quite some time. However, when one departs from the classic race to the finish first formula, there’s an incredibly wide variety of different titles to choose from. You have the usual suspects of Forza, Gran Truismo and, to a lesser degree, the Nascar series. The world of racing games is an interesting one to say the least. It’s a great game on the PlayStation and we’d love to see a Mr. This means that, even as your digging skills get sharper, you’re still only one poor choice away from an ignominious death. No two levels are alike since the blocks are randomly generated. The twist is that the blocks you drill through are shaped a bit like the ones in Tetris and have a tendency to fall down and crush you if you’re not careful.įrom a simple premise, Namco created a hugely addictive and replayable gam. First appearing in late ’90s arcades, it’s an action game with a hint of strategy: your job is to drill down to the bottom of each stage, busting through rocks and collecting the air capsules that keep your ever-depleting energy bar from running out. Driller isn’t a more popular franchise than it is. ![]() Indeed, we’d go out on a limb and say that Delta‘s a little better than the beautiful-looking yet glacially-paced PS2 swansong, R-Type Final. Polished, slick, and ferociously difficult, R-Type Delta‘s one of the very best sequels Irem ever made to its seminal 1987 blaster. Hogs of War also contains a welcome voice-over by the late, great Rik Mayall. ![]() The controls are nicely tailored for the PS1’s controller, and there’s a surprising amount of tactical depth beneath the cartoonish presentation. In essence, it’s a kind of 3D take on the classic Worms, with rival squads of porcine soldiers murdering one another with a variety of tanks and explosives. This turn-based strategy game got a bit of a lukewarm reception on its release in 2000, but we’d argue that it’s worth overlooking its more annoying quirks. If you can’t afford the PS1 version, it’s also contained on the Gradius Collectionrelease for the PSP. Sadly, Gradius Gaiden‘ s limited release makes it a bit of a collector’s piece these days. ![]() Its action may be rooted in ’80s arcades, but its big, meaty explosions and background effects (including a nice-looking aurora borealis shimmer on level one) give it a glossy feel. It’s a superb game and one that takes great advantage of the PS1’s processing power. Released only in Japan, Gradius Gaiden saw Konami attempt to update the spaceship shooter template a little, with polygon graphics, additional weapons systems, and a greater variety of difficulty levels to court the less seasoned gamer. You’ll know all about the Gradius games if you’re into your retro 2D shooters, but the PlayStation-exclusive Gradius Gaiden is undoubtedly one of its most obscure entries. All the same, it’s colorful and lots of fun, particularly in two-player mode. Even at the time of its release in the late ’90s, YoYo’s Puzzle Park felt like a bit of a retro throwback to games like Rodland or Psycho Pigs UXB, which means it never got much of a release in the west. ![]() 3/1/2023 0 Comments Smite bellona build![]() ![]() So I'll probably have gone 6s without taking an auto attack in truth.
